FN MAG (GPMG)
FN MAG (GPMG) as used by British Forces. The GPMG or 'Gimpy' as it is more commonly known by troops, is a license built version of the FN MAG. It has been in service for 30 years and is still being used as Britains main Machine Gun. It is used at Battalion level for fire support, and is also mounted on most British Army Vehicles, be it Light Utility Vehicles to Main Batlle Tanks. It is set to be replaced in 2004 by an as yet unknown weapon but many still think that it will last at least another decade in Britains armoury. The GPMG is much liked and favoured by all troops who have used in the past and is said to be one of the best and reliable 7.62mm General Purpose Machine Gun in the World.
