IMPERIAL DEFENCE SERVICES Ltd. 9x19mm Ranger-HP TEXT FROM THE MANUFACTURER'S WEBSITE (slight modifications by me)- The RANGER-HP pistol is an updated version of the Belgian-made FN "Browning High-Power" GP-35 selfloading handgun, well-known and respected by soldiers around the world. The GP-35 "High-Power" has been the trusted sidearm for countless armies worldwide during the last sixty-five years, and stood the test of time better than practically any other pistol on Earth. Originally developed as a regulation weapon, the GP-35 pistol has since then become the service pistol for Armed Forces, Police and Security forces of more than fifty countries, which is an indication of its high quality and lasting design features. The RANGER-HP pistol offers buyers the same quality and reliability as the GP-35 "High-Power", but incorporates modern techniques in production and equipment that brings it back in line with current pistols and ensures its future into the 21st Century. The RANGER-HP pistol's system is based on the locked breech, short-recoil principle. The RANGER-HP is renowned for its positive performance and accuracy, due especially to the exceptional rigidity of the barrel locking design. Simple in design, the RANGER-HP pistol is undisputably practical and easy to mantain. Produced exclusively for us with the latest production equipment and State-Of-The-Art CNC machinery and made in England, the RANGER-HP pistol is the ideal weapon for CQC situations, as well as being equally suitable for use in connection with normal guard duties and police work. To model designs are available, the original "rounded" version and amodern "squared" version in line with current pistol trends. The RANGER-HP handgun can only be obtained from IMPERIAL DEFENCE SERVICES Ltd., who will either export it to its clients from the United Kingdom or from Bulgaria, when this would turn in being easier for export licensing procedures to certain destinations. -ADDENDUM- The IMPERIAL DEFENCE SERVICES "Ranger-HP" pistol seems to be a British-made clone of the ARCUS 94 selfloading handgun of Bulgarian manufacture, this being a modernized, SA/DA version of the original "Browning High-Power" pistol. IMPERIAL DEFENCE SERVICES Ltd., a company based in the United Kingdom, claims to be the manufacturer of this weapon; liaisons with ARCUS of Bulgaria should however be investigated further, since the Company itself admits to be able to export these pistols from Bulgaria. Note that there are differences in the markings between the Bulgarian-made ARCUS-94 and the (supposedly) British-made RANGER-HP pistols. The ARCUS pistols are marked on the slide as follows: On the left side: ARCUS© 94 On the right side: ARCUS© CO. - MADE IN BULGARIA The "Ranger-HP" pistols are marked on the slide as follows: On the left side: RANGER - IMPERIAL DEFENCE SERVICES On the right side: IMPERIAL DEFENCE - MADE IN ENGLAND Neither this is strange, new or unusual, since many other wholesalers have their guns made by other manufacturers marked with their brand, and this is possibly made in foreign countries where craftsmanship is cheaper (SPRINGFIELD ARMORY of the USA is an example, their XD pistols are made in Croatia and bear the SA marks; nonetheless, the SA-XD pistols are still marked "Made in Croatia" on the right side of the frame, while the "Ranger-HP" pistols appearently bear no sign of possible Bulgarian origin). Please also note that IMPERIAL DEFENCE SERVICES Ltd. also distributes (and seems to manufacture) a .45 selfloading handgun called 1911A1-RANGER; a very similar weapon is assembled by FIC - FLORO INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION of the Philippines as the "Federal" pistol, with parts built in Vietnam. The IMPERIAL DEFENCE "1911A1-Ranger" pistols seem to share this similarity with them.
