Star Model Z-62 9mm SMG

This weapon replaced the Z-45 in 1945 and remained in Spanish Army service until 1971, when the mostly similar Z-70B replaced it. Both weapons were conventional, tube-layout straight-blowback machine guns with the bolt mass entirely behind the breech face. The Z-62 achieves fire-selection through use of a two-finger selecting trigger (pulling the bottom notch rotates and top slides), whereas the Z-70B has a selector lever and conventional trigger. Both were issued for Spanish Army service in 9 mm Largo but were available on the export market in 9 mm Parabellum.
