MP-461 "Strazhnik" Barrelless Pistol
Manufactured by Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod, which appears to be a subsidary of Baikal. This is barrelless twin-shot pistol chambered for 18x45 cartridges. Can fire either a type of "rubber bullet," a signalling round, or a round which produces nothing more than a burst of light and sound, like a tiny concussion grenade, to confuse people. Ammunition is loaded in removable blocks, which can be changed quickly and which each contain two rounds. The first time the trigger is pulled, the first round will fire. The second time the trigger is pulled, the second round will fire, and the gun must be reloaded. There is more than one safety device. The firing is done by an electronic propellant ignition system. This runs off of ordinary batteries, which allow the gun to function for several years before the batteries need to be replaced. There are front and rear sights. The muzzle velocity is 108.5 meters per second. The maximum muzzle energy of the rounds is 85 Joules, or about 63 foot-pounds. The overall dimensions of the weapon are 115 mm. long by 30 mm. wide by 120 mm. high. The unloaded weight of the weapon is about 7 ounces.
