NORINCO QSZ-92 Pistol System The QSZ-92 (QSZ standing for QIN-SHANG ZU, or "Pistol System") is the new sidearm cache developed in the year 2002 for Chinese service use, and already in active duty with the People's Armed Police in Hong-Kong, Macau, and Beijing, and with the People's Liberation Army regiments in Hong-Kong and Macau SARs (Special Administrative Regions, not Severe-Acute Respiration Sydrome, LOL!). The QSZ-92 is a SA/DA pistol, that borrows from both the BERETTA M92-FS and the BROWNING HIGH-POWER designs, with no major improvements, this resulting in a sturdy and reliable combat handgun, being it based on tried-and-true working systems. There are two versions of the QSZ-92 pistol: #1: The QSZ-92/9mm. This is the standard version of the gun: the .9x19mm-Parabellum is replacing the three standard calibers (.7'62x25mm-Tokarev, .7'62x17mm "Palestinian Type", and, in a much minor way, the .9x18mm - Makarov High Impulse) which are commonly used in Chinese service. This pistol will fire any standard civilian grade or military ordnance 9mm ammo, plus it is a robust pistol capable to fire the new Chinese DAP-92 .9x19mm cartridge. The DAP-92 is an armor piercing cartridge borrowed from the PBP 9mm-Parabellum bullet cache developed in Russia for the KPB GSh-18 pistol. In fact, the armor-piercing capabilities of the DAP-92 cartridge doesn't only come from the material that composes the bullet (a steel-made penetrator core which tip protrudes from a brass jacket), but mainly from the fact that the cartridge has a so hot load that it developes extra pressures when fired (comparable to +P+ or even +P++ in "Western" standards). Such pressures do require an extra solid gun to handle them without major damages, and the QSZ-92 sure is. A commercial variant of the QSZ-92/9mm has been already developed for export and civilian markets, its distribution was expected for 2003 but after the Bush administration's 2 years-long ban of any NORINCO products from American imports and markets, the launch of this gun will be postponed after the expire of this ban. #2: The QSZ-92/5'8mm. This special purposes version of the QSZ-92 fires a proprietary .5'8x21mm-Chi cartridge, specifically designed to pierce through individual heavy armours (demolotion-type bodyarmours, and helmets), and light vehicle armourings. The .5'8x21mm-Chi cartridgebears many similarities with the Belgian .5'7x28mm-FN cartridge developed by FN of Herstal for the "Five-seveN" pistol and the P90 submachinegun, thought neither NORINCO nor FN seem to be admitting that the Chinese .5'8mm is a copyright infringement. Both those pistols are available with optionals, including visible-infrared laser beamshot sights and sound suppressors. --- TECHNICAL SPECS: CALIBER: 9x19mm-Parabellum / .5'8x21mm-CHI CAPACITY: 15+1 rounds (.9x19mm) / 20 rounds (.5'8mm) TOTAL LENGHT: 190 Millimeters BARREL LENGHT: 111 Millimeters WIDHT: 35 Millimeters HEIGHT: 135 Millimeters WEIGHT: 0,76 Kilograms MUZZLE VELOCITY: 350 Meters Per Second EFFECTIVE RANGE: 50 Meters RIFLING: 6 Grooves, RH BARREL LIFE: Over 3000 rounds
