A little background, first... AL-QADISSIYA ESTABLISHMENTS The "Al-Qadissiya Establishment" occupies 8 square km and has 3 main entrance gates. The General Manager is (or was) General Thafer Sadiq Hussein. Other senior officials are: Brigadier Othman Al Siqar (Deputy General Manager), Brigadier (Engineers Corps) Al Hareth (Production Manager), Major (Intelligence) Mazin (Security Officer). The primary function of the establishment are factories connected with weapons of mass destruction. However, several factories, or production lines, manufacture small arms with imported machineries for the Iraq Armed Forces The main product of this facility is centrifuges used in nuclear weapons production. It also contains labs for quality control testing for chemical weapons and welding factory for missiles. There are also plans to construct a factory for producing electronic circuits for missiles, however, building stopped because of a lack of equipment. ----------- TABUQ .7'62mm and .5'56mm assault rifles The TABUQ assault rifle, made in Iraq, is essentially nothing but a copy of the Yugoslavian M-70 AK-style assault rifles system. It is assumed that Iraq has bought machining tools and equipments from the Yugoslavian firm of ZASTAVA ORUZJE, located in KRAGUJEVAC, south of Sarajevo, during the regime of Slobodan Milosevic. The TABUQ series, available in .7'62x39mm for "internal use" and .5'56x45mm for export (although is not known if this "export version" had already some end users outside of Iraq) has very little particularities by itself. It is available in all of its caliber versions in three models: "Standard" model, "Underfolding Stock" model and "Shorty Carbine" model. The particularity of the TABUQ rifle in its "Standard" and "Underfolding Stock" model is to be equipped with a "flip-up" anti-aircraft sight that can be used also as a grenade sight when an underbarrel grenade launcher is mounted on. The "Shorty Carbine" version has a modified muzzle brake to launch rifle grenades. There is also a "Match Grade" platoon marksmen version, based on the Yugoslavian ZASTAVA M-76 sniper rifle. The .5'56mm version is based on the newest ZASTAVA M-80 weapons system. The magazine for this rifle is built using machineries sold by BERETTA to Iraq in the '70s, in fact it is similar to the magazines used in the early AR-70/.223 Italian assault rifle. It's known that Saddam Hussein used to have manufactured for himself gold-plated TABUQs, of all kinds, for "representative use", while the members of his government, and the Special Republican Guards for some parades, were equipped with a SILVER-PLATED version of the rifle. -- TECHNICAL SPECS: - TABUQ .7'62mm WEAPONS SYSTEM CALIBER: .7'62x39mm CAPACITY: 30 rounds TOTAL LENGHT: 1 meter (900 Millimeters for the "Underfolding Stock" version with stock folded) BARREL LENGHT: 415 Millimeters WEIGHT: 4560 Grams RATE OF FIRE: 620/660 Rounds Per Minute - TABUQ .5'56mm WEAPONS SYSTEM CALIBER: .5'56x45mm-NATO CAPACITY: 30 rounds TOTAL LENGHT: 990 Millimeters (790/570 Millimeters the "Underfolding Stock" version) BARREL LENGHT: 460 Millimeters (315 Millimeters the "Underfoldind Stock" version) WEIGHT: 3,5 Kilograms (3,2 Kilograms the "Underfolding Stock" version) RATE OF FIRE: 650 Rounds Per Minute - TABUQ "Shorty Carbine" CALIBER: .7'62x39mm / .5'56x45mm CAPACITY: 15 or 30 rounds - TABUQ "Match Grade" CALIBER: 7'62x39mm CAPACITY: 15 rounds TOTAL LENGHT: 1135 Millimeters BARREL LENGHT: 550 Millimeters WEIGHT: 4,2 Kilograms. ----------
