The European gun market has reacted to the reduced exports of AR-15 and AR-10 style firearms from the United States of America (prompted by the imposition of a DSP-83 "End User Certificate" for the export of every single firearm of said type from the US to any Country, even when "Friendly" and even when the firearm is civilian-grade semi-automatic in nature) by developing its own industry for the manufacture of said design. AR-15 and AR-10 makers have flourished in the past years in Germany (Oberland Arms oHG, Heckler&Koch), in Italy (GAC - Grande Armeria Camuna, ADC Custom) and in Switzerland (Astra Arms SA), and manufacturing lines are starting in Turkey (Safir Arms AS); the quality of said European products is commonly recognized to be fairly superior to their American-made counterparts. The German firm of OBERLAND ARMS oHG, active since the early 2000s, has launched its AR-10 (7'62x51mm/.308-Winchester) product line in the fall of 2004, and has since then expanded it to comprise a number of variants, of which the "Classic" with 20" barrel is the standard one. Built around 7075-T4 hard-anodized aeronautics-grade aluminium, the Oberland Arms OA-10 is mainly built as a baseline platform to be customized either by the manufacturing house itself or by a gunsmith to adapt to the individual shooter's needs. The standard variant uses A2 handguards, fixed front sight and removable carrying handle (alternatively Picatinny rails and ARMS folding sights), and a Lothar Walther stainless steel match-grade barrel. --TECHNICAL SPECS-- CALIBER: 7'62x51mm (.308-Winchester) CAPACITY: 5, 10, 20 rds in Heckler&Koch G3-type magazines OPERATION: Semi-automatic, direct-gas-impringment operated, rotating bolt TOTAL WEIGHT: 4,250 Kilograms (9,36 Pounds) TOTAL LENGHT: 1060 Millimetres (41.7 Inches) BARREL LENGHT: 539 Millimetres (20 Inches) --MANUFACTURER CONTACT INFO-- OBERLAND ARMS oHG Dürnhauser Str. 10 D-82392 Habach - Germany TEL.: +49 (8847) 697 259 FAX: +49 (8847) 697 258 URL: http://www.oberlandarms.com
