Well... if you call THAT a "cartridge deflector"... I don't think it's prominent enough to be useful. The weapon still can NOT be used left-handed. Many bull-pup supporters say that the inability to use a bull-pup rifle left-handed is the price to pay to have an accurate, long-barrel weapon in a maneuverable, carbine size. As a bull-pup supporter as I am, I have my point: try to find yourself in a combat situation where your cover would be mostly effective if your weapon can be used left-handed, then come back and report 'bout the number of shots you took (and you could avoid). When I speak of an effective cartridge deflector in a bull-pup rifle I think of something along the lines of the SAR-21.

I i was to select a rifle for an Army, I would also go for a Bullpup as it "fits into you". It would have stronger construction, be ideal for confined spaces retaining a standard rifle barrel length and also be very accurate.

That slides around the ejection window are not the deflector, but just slides when the deflector is located when it is attached to the assault rifle. There isn't any deflector on the photo.
