Exclamation Mystery gun

Im trying to solve the origins of this italian junk gun, marked "EIG" "ITALY" and "XXII" which i think is the model no. set by the U.S. importer EIG.
It is also referred to as a "Chief’s Special" which could be because it is clearly a copy of Smith & Wesson. It has a 2''BBL the caliber is .38S&W Special the fluted cylinder has a 5-shot capabillity and the safety is of Flat-latch type.

Now my question is; what is the real model name and what firm made it back in italy. This would be in the mid-1960's. if anyone has an idea i would appreciate it.

Let me conclude that it is NOT an; Uberti Inspector, Franchi RF-83, Renato Gamba Trident which are all colt copies
Neither is it a; Bernardelli VB or a Beretta M1. This is basically all the DA-Revolvers i ever heard of from Italy (modern production)

Yep, postal shipment of guns between private citizens is not allowed in Italy (only between corporates, or from manufacturer/importer to retail seller, and only via dedicated courier).

But I could still come down there and pick it up by myself... here in Italy, all firearms manufactured before 1895 and their modern replicas are considered just one step behind the limit that divides the firearms from "Free trade weapons" like air rifles etc.
