Default Those nutty California people

California Bill Requires Ammunition Tagging
California could become the first state in the nation to require semi-automatic handguns include microscopic equipment for pressing an identifying mark into every bullet fired.

Well it's pretty f*cking useless-- that 55% of unidentifiable markings found on retrieved bullets is because most amunition these days are frangible...whatever's not is generally of a small enough a caliber that the bullet is completely deformed upon impact-- making striation and other notable marks impossible to read. A microscopic ANYTHING is not going to withstand over a ton of force upon impact.
Besides that-- they want the dentation to read weapon make and model-- again-- useless...it's called circumstantial evidence.
Maryland closed down their database on registered arms because it never worked.
Few crimes are perpetrated by a legally purchased firearm-- half the smart crooks out there swap barrels on automatics and some revolvers to throw off rifling comparison. Hell-- over forty-two cases were the perp was guiltier than sin have been thrown out because the schmucks were smart enough to run a file through their bores to mess up a ballistics match.

Thumbs down Ammunition tagging...

Even if I am currently in some status of "Armed Truce" with Mr. Bacon Guy (on a side note: his last post in my "Don't Insult Italy Any Longer" thread in the Political forum doesn't even deserves an answer, so I'll drop the discussion and leave him the last word like we usually do in Italy with the crazies; I'll shut the fuck up and let my country mown his dead sons)... AS I SAID, even if I am not exactly a close friend of "Bacon Guy", I have to agree with his statement in his thread tited "N00bs, they'll never learn", or something. There's people joining the Anti-Gun front and making proposals for the sake of sensationalism, making proposals (and pushing them to be approved) that not only restrict the rights of the law-abiding gun owners, but have no one single effect on the armed criminals (do you REALLY think that they go to gun shops to buy 10-rounders, barrel-tagged pistols, and that maybe they get their AKs at gun shows?).

Wait, there are still gun owners in California? Must be total masochists or total criminals.

Soon, all guns will be banned and you'll have to get a permit from the attorney general to acquire a can of spray paint, because it could be used for offensive projectile purposes .
