Tried several different wads, including lotus petals with and without an X-spreader. Tried three different kinds of ported chokes too to strip the wad to no avail. Went to a 3" rifenhauser shell and still the same thing with a 32" barrel.
Besides-- even in my heavy recoil eaters with deadmules couldn't break the action on 'em.
The bloody powder just burned so hard!
We had silver dollar shaped holes in 3/4" plywood at 45 yards with a cylindar. The only folks I know today using longshot are folks loading .410 for chamber restrictors--allows them to shoot a subgun shell out of a large bore (converting 12 to .410) even then they're under cutting the powder using
no.9 shot, cork wads with leaflet sleeves for skeet shooting. So at 1,200fps out of a 12ga cylinder and no true wad they're getting an awkward 24" pattern at 25yards.
