Nice looking rifle, but I'm trying to figure out why I'd want a rifle named after a massacre.

IMI has to make a rifle called the "Custer's last stand" now.

Default It's been my last day at SHOT for me.

Few more interesting things I've seen.

The Kriss submachinegun is shaping up to look like an actual weapon. The barrel is still low, but above it is a solid frame with a tactical light built in. It now takes Glock mags, including the high-cap 33 rounders. The ones at the show were still prototypes (serial numbers 2 and 3), and both in .45, but they're planning other calibers such as 9mm and 10mm (the rep didn't mention .40 S&W, but it'll probably get in on it). The rep also said that the DoD contracted them to develop a .50 BMG heavy machinegun using the Kriss' operating mechanism, which will be lighter than the MHB, /and/ the XM312 while keeping a relatively high rate of fire (the XM312's 240 RPM just is not going to cut it). They're also developing a select fire 12 gauge version of the Kriss to compete with the AA-12 and USAS-12s, and he said they would definitely make a semi-auto version of the 12 gauge for the civilian market. He said that making a Kriss weapon in rifle calibers would be possible, but right now that's no more than a note on a whiteboard somewhere in their office.

A Hong Kong company has actually been developing an airsoft version of the Masada the entire time while the real rifle was being developed. It is almost ready (although they don't know whether they're going to use Ver 2 or Ver 3 gearboxes... the professional training version will be Systema of course). I actually got a rep of my airsoft team who was running the G&G armament booth there to go and negotiate distribution of that airsoft rifle in Taiwan. Oh, and on that note... be on the lookout for FN F2000 and FN SCAR airsoft rifles from G&G sometime in the future.

Kel-Tec had a bullpup 7.62x51mm rifle at their booth, with forward ejection. It's as light as you'd expect from a Kel-Tec weapon. It comes in 18" barrel, 24", and 30".

I overheard one of the HK Defense reps saying that HK USA /has/ received their first HK 416s for their own development. The 416 may well be hitting civilian shelves soon after all. Nothing about a civilian 417 though.

Master Cutlery is releasing a combination tactical light/knife. The blade locks harmlessly against the side of the tube normally, and is released by turning a ring, allowing it to be slid forward and then re-locked in place. The light can be attached to accessory rails in the usual manner, essentially amounting to a combination light and bayonet in that case.

Default Greetings to Orlando

Remember the recent story of Combat Pistol Program? Though the Program was postponed it would be interesting to learn more about potential competitors. They are, as I understand, S&W M&P45, SA XD-45 Tactical, Beretta Px4 Storm SD, SIG P220 Combat, H&K USP45 Tactical, Taurus PT 27/4 OSS .45 and also FNP-45, Para, Ruger and Kimber may be of some value in this capacity.
