Well, I thought you was talking about THIS...
HERE IN ITALY, my "Friends" (the real ones) had a legitimate protest (remember that in Italy the right to peacefully protest against anything is granted by Constitution) against the embiggement of an U.S. base whose nobody wants and that the Government has granted permission to uniquely because there must have been the promise for some fat reward from YOUR Government. I am against that base too. Actually, I think that all foreign military personnel should get outta my Country, and not only, also outta entire Europe, and that NATO shall dissolve. The NATO is an anachronism, its "utility", whatever it has been, now is no longer; it is now a parasitic entity binding the authonomy in military and foreign policy of all the member States. It shall be replaced by a solely EU defense organization (if ever), with which non-EU Countries shall not have anything to do, and of which all EU-member Countries shall imperatively agree (with the prohibition, at the same time, of being part of -ANY- other military alliance). 60 years have passed wince World War 2. We are sincerely grateful of what you did to liberate us from Nazism and Fascism. But let's take it seriously: after all that time, all the generations that passed, all the ideologies which have evolver, all wars that have been fought, all wars that have been avoided, and all the money and space that's been wasted, we Italians and Europeans think that we have paid our dues. It's time to enter upon serious and friendly negotiations to re-define (at best) the status and the entity of your troops and military installations overseas (in OUR backyard, especially). P.S.: This post shall be in the "Political discussion". I advance a motion for its moving.
