Unhappy Answer...

Six Days, 96 views... no serious try... okay, looks like in these days the board has been less than crowded, whassup, everybody on vacation? Whatever... I have another juicy trivia incoming, so brace while I reveal this one.
---
PIETTA PPA-V1 pump-action shotgun

Introduced as a prototype at the 2007 IWA expo in Nuremberg (Germany), briefly shown at the 2008 SHOT Show in Las Vegas (NV, USA) and finally officially launched on the market at the 2008 EXA expo in Brescia (Italy), the PPA-V1 ("Pietta Pump Action - Version 1") series represents an extremely modernist market entry for an Italian manufacturer that has been longtime focusing on Western replicas.

The Pietta PPA-V1 shotguns were originally developed to respond a RFT (request for tender) from the French Police Nationale for a 12-gauge service shotgun that had to be easy to operate and mantain, lighter and more comfortable to carry than the currently issued ones. As such, Pietta responded by manufacturing a shotgun that's mostly made of lightweight alloy, with polymer handguard and stock, that's arguably one of the lightest entries on the market, yet remaining extremely reliable in range and accuracy and more than acceptable for recoil thanks to its barrel, drilled and bored from high-resistance (SAE 4140) steel bars and internally hard-chromed.

The Pietta PPA-V1 features a twin action bars operation for a smooth and reliable working; the robust and energic return spring mounted on the 6-shells feeding tube directly behind the slide action ensures a safe and sure closure of the bolt once the handguard is released; the trigger itself is equipped of an automatic disconnector that prevents the hammer to be released on the chambered cartridge unless the action is completely closed. Other safety features include a push-button safety located on the trigger guard and a slide lock release for easy and fast clearing of the 3-inch "Magnum" chamber. The receiver has four slots on the upper part for the mounting of optics interface systems.

As another idea behind the conception of the PPA-V1 shotguns was "sense and simplicity", the Pietta shotguns are easy to strip down for thorough cleaning or for maintenance, down to the very same fire mechanism, and similarly easy to reassemble rapidly and properly once maintainment operations are complete. Receiver and barrel are treated with an anti-glare finish. The Pietta PPA-V1 shotguns are either available with a checkered "skeleton" fixed stock manufactured under a strict policy of weight reduction AND resistence; or with a specifically conceived "tactical" stock system with pistol grip and folding stock that folds on the right side of the receiver; the folding stock is specifically designed to help alignment of sights when the gun is embraced, and not to be a hindrance for handling, operation or shells ejection, and the use of the PPA-V1 with stock folded results equally comfortable. All stocks come standard with ventilated rubber recoil pad. Sling swivels are fitted upon request.

The Pietta PPA-V1 shotgun is currently (July 2008) available on the Italian market for an overall price of 662 Euros.

I don't know why they call it that, I've spoken with PIETTA people at IWA and EXA and it's not an official Pietta designation... it's simply PPA-V1 with fixed or folding stock... which is interchangeable...
