Thumbs up Newest kewlest thing from Italy!!

BCM EUROPEARMS PM-4 "Storm"

The manufacturing firm of BCM EUROPEARMS S.A.S, based in Roletto (Province of Turin, Region of Piedmont, Italy) is a small yet very dynamic reality in the Italian gunmaking industry, that has picked up in 2007 where other previous extremely innovative industries such as SITES and, more recently, MODULO MASTERPIECE had left, to provide the market with high-quality, high-technology firearms, apparel and equipments. BCM EUROPEARMS is specialized in the manufacturing of high-accuracy rifles, mostly realized out of fully-machined aluminium through state-of-the-art CNC machineries and thoroughly engineered and designed with the help of top-notch CAD and CAM programs, with a minimum design/engineering time of one year before a prototype is built. BCM EUROPEARMS also manufactures production machineries, reloading presses, stocks and other parts for custom works.

One of the latest BCM developments is the final version of the "Storm" pistol project, conceived in the early 2000s by the Italian-Swiss engineer Claudio Gritti and passed through an intensive phase of re-design and improvement through three different companies before reaching the final production stage that will be available for customers in Italy by April 2011.

The PM-4 "Storm" pistol is a re-elaboration of the SPECTRE M-4 sub-machinegun/pistol/carbine system marketed in the 1980s by the Italian firm of SITES S.p.A. - the SPECTRE was an innovative weapon, way ahead of its times, and when it was introduced on the market gained immediate interest by several Special Operations Forces worldwide. A semi-automatic weapon based on the SPECTRE's working mechanism, the PM-4 "Storm" has been conceived with civilians and private security operators in mind, to provide such customers with an high-power, high-volume-of-fire, extremely stable and accurate weapon for personal and property defence and for duty, with the advantage of an extremely threatening look that might work itself to discourage assaults.

The PM-4 "Storm" semi-automatic pistol is built around a whole high-impact, fiber-reinforced polymer frame and a CNC-machined, 4150 ordnance-grade stainless steel barrel with integral muzzle brake/flash suppressor, which has a particularly long rifling pitch in order to reduce bullet friction, with positive outcomes on accuracy, muzzle climb and recoil.
The top of the polymer frame is equipped with high-visibility LPA adjustable front and rear sights, and with an optional Picatinny rail for optics. A single-point sling can be secured through a ring to the rear plug, which also works as the main field-stripping point. The cocking handle, working also as a hold-open release device and as a forward assist, is located on the left side, and the magazine release button is located on the under-front of the trigger guard. The weapon can be chambered for either 9mm (9x21mm-IMI, in Italy) or .40-Smith&Wesson; for both calibers, the magazine capacity is currently 15 rounds.

The PM-4 "Storm" has no external safety, exception made for a button located behind the trigger, past the end of its run, that can be pushed to decock the weapon with a round chambered and convert it to a Double-Action-Only operation, in a manner very similar to the SPECTRE submachinegun (and its semi-automatic civilian variants, the "FALCON" or "SPECTRE-HC" pistol and the "RANGER" carbine), although with a very lighter trigger pull, passing from the original four/five kilograms to around 2,2 kilograms, akin to a revolver's, thus addressing one of the SPECTRE's main issues albeit mantaining its peculiar constant operational readiness.

The "Storm" will shortly be also available in a carbine version, dubbed the CM-4, equipped with a slightly longer barrel and an M4-style, four-positions collapsible stock. A select-fire version, equipped with an ambidextrous selection switch also dubbing as a manual safety and with a completely different trigger pull, has been prototyped in the early phases of development of the "Storm", and will be carried on to production upon request or interest by police, military or governmental customers. Chamberings in 9x19mm-Luger/Parabellum/NATO and higher-capacity magazines for export will also be available. The company is also looking for contacts to start a local production of the PM-4 "Storm" in the United States of America, where this weapon could not be imported directly.

The PM-4 "Storm" in the latest version is all but heavy. Last time we saw it together, two years ago at the EXA, it still had a resin frame. and a different design overall. Now it's reinforce polymer. About 1Kg lighter!
