Default Ak4B

AK-4 upgrage
The AK4B is a new modification with red-dot sight, increased rate of fire and enhanced exterior surface. In the early to mid 1960s the AK4 rifle was adopted by Sweden, and that nationalized version of the German HK G3 design replaced the venerable old Swedish M96 Mauser in service. In the Swedish tradition of a “Home Guard,” the timehonored citizen-soldier tradition, these bolt-action Mausers were issued to the men of Sweden and kept in their homes. The Swedes had kept a full-sized battle rifle cartridge as their issue choice, the 7.62x51mm NATO round. Original production of the AK4 was at the Husqvarna Vapenfabrik AB.

The question was, what to do with all of those AK4s? These selective-fire weapons were issued to the Home Guard in exchange for the old Mauser M96 bolt-action rifles, and the Swedish countryside was then armed to the nines with a fullsized selective-fire battle rifle. Many were in the private homes of the Swedish Home Guard sometimes go through fires and worse, and the AK4 must be turned in for evaluation.

After a recent inspection of the weapons in the hands of the Home Guard, it was decided that the entire inventory should be remanufactured as the AK4-B, without fixed sights, using only an optical sight on a MIL-STD-1913-style rail. The Ak 4 is available in the Swedish armed forces in three different types. They are:

AK4-OR (basic version with a telescopic sight with 4x enhancement)

Pic 3 AK4B SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) Other version under evaluation

The Ak 5 is the service rifle of the Swedish Army. Ak 5 is an abbreviation of automatkarbin 5 (literally translating to automatic carbine 5, "automatic carbine" is the Swedish term for assault rifle). The rifle is also known as the CGA5, literally: Carl Gustav Automatic carbine 5. The Ak 5 replaced the Ak 4 (licensed H&K G3 copy) in Swedish service. There are several specialized versions available: the Ak 5B with a telescopic sight and a shortened version, the Ak 5D. A modified version of the Colt M203 grenade launcher can also be attached to the Ak 5. This setup is simply designated Ak 5 med granattillsats meaning "Ak 5 with grenade [launcher] attachment".

Variants are the AK5B which is mounted with a SUSAT L9A1 tritium sight the AK5C and the AK5D which is the compact verison. There is also a model of the compact verison especially developed for the Swedish and Norweigian police; the AK5D-P (Police) aka. CGA5P. Older versions of the AK5 are retrieved and upgraded by Bofors under supervision by FMV ( Försvarets materieleverk). A M1913 picyannyrail Nato-std. with aimpoint scope is attached as well as an ambi-safety & fire-control Semi-to-full auto fire. The Gasbrake-action of the 3-shot capability has been changed to only have full auto mode to increase durability.

The Norweigien company Norplasta AS. is manufacturing the new transparent magazines and just as Colt M16's a last-shot notifier is installed to increase reload speed. The flamesuppressor has also been changed to accomodate nightops. The security and function has been seen to when the MRBS Mean Rounds Between Stoppages has been increased from the former 300 (HKG3-AK4 and earlier versions AK5) to be at least 1.000rounds , besides the tests also guarantees over 8000rounds before anything mechanical should brake. Even though developed in the 1970s, it didnt go into full production until 1986 and has gone through many changes over the years.

They are still made on License from Belgium (FN FNC) at SAAB-Bofors Dynamics factories in Eskilstuna where also most reconfigurations take place. There are a version with Colt-M203 40mmGrL and big range of accesories such as silencers, lasers, lights, optics & mounts.

Default Ak5d

http://www.securityarms.com/20010315...s/0600/692.htm

The latest modification of the Ak 5 is designated Ak 5D and most notably has a shorter barrel. Just as the Ak 5C it is mounted with the MIL-STD 1913 rail system to allow for easy mounting of a variety of sights.

Due to the smaller dimensions of the weapon, the Ak 5D is used especially by personnel in crowded spaces such as the Swedish urban warfare units and on certain marine units. The Swedish police are also equipped with a version of the Ak 5D

The Swedish and Norwegian police are equipped with a special version of the Ak5D called CGA5P or sometimes, Ak5DP. Essentially it is a Ak5D with automatic fire capability disabled by an Allen screw. Unlike the Ak 5D, the police version has fixed sights but is still equipped with the MIL-STD 1913 rail system. Eventually, telescopic sights or red dot sights will be used. Unlike its military counterparts, the police version also has safety catches on both sides of the weapon.

Thanks for the great presentation.
I'll soon be adding this information and all the other new stuff we got over the past month or so to the site. I'm going to ask for a raise as an incentive to get more done faster.

Exclamation

Great just had to add two more news, though not really the right forum.
#1 Ammo
the new Armor-Piercing 7,62x51mmN ffor the AK4B pictured with penetration of 20mm reinforced steel

#2 Child-warriors
A new legislation allowing young swedes from 7-16 to join the army (mainly for training) which is frowned upon by some countries. I mean it is not likely that sweden will end up in war anytime soon. The picture is taken of a 12yr old little blond recruit eager for her first rifle.

I support children, especially highschool-age children having to fulfill mandatory military training.

However that's for training only, no one under 18 should take part in actual military operations.
