The initial production agreement, which the company said had been approved by the State Department, prohibits sale of the guns to China, but the company hopes eventually to open that market, Mr. Weaver said. Weaver expects to begin its Chinese production within 90 days, with the first shipment of 10,000 guns planned by January 1989.

Weaver Arms Nighthawk

The Weaver Arms Corporation was formed around the design of the nighthawk which finished in 1983, and subsequentely the company started the following year. Besides the AP9 and the carbine there was plans of making a submachinegun, though "PKS-9 Ultralight" was never put into full production. It was placed on the Assualt weapon list and in 1990 it was put out of production because the company went bancrupt.
